Schedule of Didactic Sessions | Session 10
Session 10
Date: Thurs. 4/30/09
Topics and Speakers:
Physiology Modeling and hands-on exercise with software, Entelos, Inc., a physiology modeling company
Topic: Physiology Modeling
Learning Objectives: After attending this session, the learner should be able to:
- state why glucose homeostasis is important
- describe the major processes involved in fasting and non-fasting glucose homeostasis
- understand the relationships between plasma glucose levels, secretion of pancreatic hormones, and glucose uptake by target tissues
- distinguish between the oral glucose tolerance test of a normal and diabetic patient
Key words: in vivo
Assignment: Review Entelos Virtual Laboratory Exercise (entelos-handout.pdf).
